Lecture on futurism in Italy at the “Nakanoshima Museum of Art “in Osaka

For the first time ever in Japan, the sculpture “Unique forms of continuity in space” by Umberto Boccioni, the iconic masterpiece of the twentieth century as well as undisputed symbol of the Italian futurism movement was exhibited at the “Nakanoshima Museum of Art” in Osaka in the context of a Conference organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Osaka.

The Conference “The Futurist Movement in Italy. History of a masterpiece by Umberto Boccioni ”was a great success with the participation of over 160 people, representatives of the local business community, the cultural world, the media and the diplomatic-consular community of Kansai.

The speaker, Prof. Alberto Dambruoso highlighted the revolutionary significance of the Futurist movement in Italy, its connections with contemporary Japanese artistic circles and made an articulated excursus on the work by Umberto Boccioni, which is part of the private collection of Roberto Bilotti Ruggi d’Aragona.

In his opening speech, the Consul General of Italy in Osaka Marco Prencipe underlined the fruitful collaboration between the Consulate General of Italy and the “Nakanoshima Museum of Art” in Osaka, aimed at enhancing the Italian artistic excellence.
